A 12-week job skills training that will teach the foundational skills needed for an entry-level position in retail, in addition to COVID safety training.
Social Skills training will include: Conversational Skills, Appropriate Use of Humor, Electronic Communication, Entering and Exiting Group Conversations, Organizing Get-Togethers with Friends, Being a Good Sport, Handling Arguments & Disagreements, Handling Direct and Indirect Bullying
VR training is a 3D digital simulation of real-world scenarios for learning. Think of it as a fully immersive and interactive video game. Learners place a headset over their eyes and are visually immersed in a virtual 360-degree environment. Learners interact with objects, locations, machines, tools, and even other people. These interactions allow learners to practice applying skills and knowledge without hazardous risks or expensive costs of failure.
Upon successful completion of the job skills training and social skills training, all participants will be offered a 6-month paid internship.
The availability of transportation is not the only impediment to independent travel for people with disabilities. They must also know what systems of transport are available, how to access these, how to plan their travel, and how to execute their travel plans safely.
For many individuals, learning how to travel on public transportation requires systematic training Travel training, then is often a crucial element in empowering people with disabilities to use the newly accessible transportation systems in our country.
Once the participants start their internship, a weekly group meeting will be required to log progress and discuss accomplishments and challenges towards achieving self-determination.
